Moorhouse 5 Lloyds 0: Moorhouse had to delay their celebrations following their failure to obtain the two points required to become Third Division champions as they slipped to a 3-2 home defeat by UMI Exiles.
But they turned things around at the weekend by beating Lloyds 5-0 although a serious injury suffered by Chris Baty in the 33rd minute took the gloss off the victory.
They had gone ahead in the 23rd minute as Dan Gardner crossed to Tom Warton who applied a cool finish.
In the 32nd minute Andy Plunkett doubled their tally with a superb 25-yard volley into the bottom corner.
Just before the break Gardner raced down the wing and caught Lloyds’ defence flat-footed with a neat pass to Warton who drove home.
Live-wire Gardner was tripped in the 49th minute as he tried to turn in the area and Warton tucked the penalty efficiently past keeper Chris Farrell to complete his hat-trick.
In the 75th minute Jay Brown cleverly flicked the ball into the path of Gardner who had time and space to add his side’s fifth.
In the quarter-finals of the Nichol Signs League Cup Brampton overwhelmed Lion & Lamb 7-1.
Richard Ridley bagged four, helped by Andy McKinnell, Martyn Coward and Adam Coward (penalty).
Their opponents in the semi-final will be St Nicholas Arms who were 2-0 victors at Arroyo thanks to Ian Grainger’s brace.
Green Bank crushed Wigton Stocksman 10-0 in a Premier Division clash.
Stuart Bell netted three while Dayle Armstrong (2), Mark Temple (2),Gary Brown, Ryan Errington and David Lynn completed the rout.
Under-strength Howard Rangers fell 4-0 at home to Spinners after finding themselves 3-0 down in the opening 15 minutes as Robbie Mather, Mike Warwick and Kevin Hobson found the net for the visitors.
Simon Elston added a fourth before the halfway stage.
Ten minutes into the second half Rangers’ Craig Wilkinson was added to their lengthy injury list and substituted by 47-year-old secretary Paul Brecken.
Lee Blaylock, 16, stepped up from the academy to make his debut for Harraby Catholic and scored along with Guiseppe Amato and man-of-the-match Cally Sword in a 3-1 success at Gretna SC while keeper Martin Purdie saved a penalty when the teams were locked 1-1.
Parkland gained promotion to the Premier Division by beating Beehive 4-1 in a Second Division encounter with strikes by Dan Greenslade, Johnny Simpson, Simon Tucker and Ben Greenslade. Dan England replied.
In the Fourth Division Upperby’s young side, after being crushed 8-1 by Pirelli, fared much better, holding Botcherby to a goalless first half before their inexperience told as their opponents took advantage of defensive errors to win 3-1 through efforts by James Fiddler, Gavin Wardle and Jamie Pitt.
Marlon Ramsey obtained the loser’s goal and two great saves by keeper Carl Davidson prevented him and the hard-working Owen Yeomans from adding others.
