We are really excited that Nestlé is announcing a switch to Fairtrade for their biggest selling chocolate brand, Kit Kat. This means huge benefits going back to cocoa producers in Côte d'Ivoire, one of the poorest countries in the world. Bars carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark will be available from January 2010.

Fairtrade Dairy Milk bars hit the shelves
Cadbury’s first Fairtrade Dairy Milk bars arrive on shop shelves today to potentially add an extra £200m in sales for the charity.
The chocolate giant announced in March that its Dairy Milk brand would get Fairtrade certification, with the new-look bars rolling out today sporting a prominent Fairtrade logo.
The 300 million Dairy Milk bars sold annually would generate an extra £200m of sales for the Fairtrade Foundation, according to the Times.
The Co-op
The Co-operative Group has announced strong sales in its own-brand range with year-on-year sales to the end of June 2009 up by 10.1 per cent — with particularly strong sales at both ends of the pricing spectrum, as well as continued growth in ethical and Fairtrade products.
