Summer Event in June
Film Club members to enjoy summer event
On 26 June Brampton Film Club will hold, what has become, its annual summer ‘bash’ for club members only. The event is designed to show appreciation for the support existing members have shown throughout the year but also to encourage new members to join. Joining at this time entitles new members to a half year membership for only £5 (£3 concessions) and allows free admittance to the event.
This year, members are providing the food and a whole range of delicious dishes have been pledged. The club will provide drinks and supplementary items as well as the all important film. A live band in the form of Hadrian’s Union will also perform during the early evening before the film is screened.
This year, the event will have a French feel as the movie being screened is perhaps the most successful French comedy ever made. When it was released in France in 2008, 20 million people went to see it – that’s about one third of the entire French populace. The movie, Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis (Welcome to the Land of Sticks – Cert. 12A) has not been widely screened in the UK and Brampton Film Club had to negotiate with the distributors to gain the right to show it. This is another example of the club bringing unusual movies to its audience.
The new programme for July to December has been published to members and a new pamphlet describing the films on offer will be available on the night. There are eight films to be screened during that period. Season tickets will be available, providing access to all eight films for the price of six i.e. £18 rather than £24.
