New Films, New Website, New Event and More Days

Brampton Film Club is launching its new and updated website, to coincide with publication of its new season of films, commencing in 2011.

The new website, which goes live on Monday 1 November, has been brought right up to date, offering users access to modern social networking sites and the ability to shop on-line.
Links to Facebook and Twitter have been added to allow members to comment more easily on the running of the club and the films screened. It is also hoped that by using these sites, both general members and members of the committee will be able to link with people involved with the film industry and those otherwise interested in film and film societies.
Access to the shopping site Amazon is also provided and any purchases made through the film club site will attract a small commission for the club, which can be used in the furtherance of club projects.
Payment, not just for shopping but also member's subscriptions, can now be made on-line through the club's site using the payment service PayPal.
It is hoped that members will utilise and enjoy these links and facilities, making the time and effort put in to providing them all worthwhile.
Having taken into account the views of members expressed in a recent survey, the committee has voted to extend the number of films shown in the year and will also provide some screenings on a Friday. In the first half of 2011 eleven films will be screened, two of which will be shown on Friday. The bulk of the programme, as now, will continue to be screened on Saturdays. It is hoped that the Friday Extra, as it will be known, will prove popular and there are already plans to increase the number of Fridays in the second half of the year.
Some of the films planned for 2011 include Made in Dagenham, The King's Speech, The Painted Veil, Precious and Winter's Bone. Two films with 18 certificates will include The Secret in the Eyes, the Academy Award winning film set in South America and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, based on the internationally bestselling novel of the same title.
On 27 November 2010, the club will offer members a free event to include a film (the award winning Crazy Heart cert.15), refreshments, a raffle and the opportunity to subscribe to 2011. Those rejoining the club will be offered a 20% discount provided they join either on the night, or within the two weeks prior to the event. Membership prices have been held for the fourth year, although there will be an increase in admittance charges in 2011, bringing the 'door price' to £4 for members and £6 for non-members.
