A Dearham hair studio’s newest recruits are preparing for their first day at work – in a fish tank.
The new additions to the team at Diva’s Hair Studio, on Main Street, are a group of 50 to 60 garra rufa fish which will pamper customers with fashionable fish pedicures.
Deborah Falcon, 31, owner of Diva’s, said she saw the pedicure tanks in Manchester while on a training course two weeks ago.
Deborah, of Row Brow Park, Dearham, added: “People were queuing to have a go in Manchester.
“It’s quite a natural way to get rid of dead skin. It is excellent for psoriasis and for runners because it is supposed to be good for circulation and getting rid of impurities.
“I was sceptical at first, but if the results hadn’t been so good I wouldn’t have got the tank.”
Diva’s will be offering 15 or 35-minute treatments from Monday, and Deborah is expecting a lot of interest.
Trainee stylist Katie Harrison, 16, of Rye Hill Farm, Flimby, tried out the treatment yesterday.
She said: “It feels ticklish and quite nice.”
