Cockermouth's winning windows are dressed to impress
Last updated at 20:21, Wednesday, 22 December 2010
Cockermouth businesses took part in the annual window dressing competition in the town.
Windows depicting Christmas scenes were judged by town mayor Alan Tyson, mayoress Gillian Sharp and Brian Trengove, of Cockermouth Chamber of Trade, on December 15.
The competition was split into two sections – the town council award for businesses not displaying products and the Chamber of Trade award for businesses showing products.
Heals Opticians, on Main Street, won first prize in the town council section and received the Jean Simpson Memorial Cup, two bottles of wine and a tin of chocolates.
Highly commended were 4Play Cycles, on Market Place, and The Vaults, on Station Street.
The Silver Beaded Needle, on Lowther Went, won the Chamber of Trade section and received the Chamber of Trade Cup, a bottle of wine and £25.
Pure Touch, on Main Street, and Floral Boutique, on Market Place, were highly commended.
