A music expert from Brampton has put his talents to community use.
Ian Warnes started up Brampton Community Orchestra and in just three weeks it has 22 members aged from 10 to 60 playing everything from clarinet to saxophone.
“It is going really well,” said conductor Ian who also runs Omega Music at Townfoot Industrial Estate in Brampton.
“I decided to start up the community orchestra three weeks ago and I have been really pleased with the response. But we could always do with more members.”
The group meet every Tuesday night in Brampton Community Centre at 7.30pm.
Ian added: “The orchestra is something we did not have in Brampton. Everyone is very keen and in a few weeks we have produced some good music.”
The youngest member of the orchestra is 10 and the oldest is in their 60s.
And members play instruments from flutes and clarinets to violin, cello, saxophone, keyboard and percussion. “We could do with more violinists. Orchestras always need more violinists,” added Ian.
There are plans for the orchestra to host concerts in the future and Ian would eventually like to see a committee set up to run the group.
