Brampton knitting club celebrates first birthday

A community group set up to give people a place to meet for a ‘Knit and Knatter’ is celebrating its first birthday this weekend.
The group, which meets weekly at The Hut at Brampton Community Centre, was born out of a charity knit-athon which left people wanting more.
The sessions are popular with dozens of knitters of all ages and the charity work has also continued with the group recently producing piles of blankets for newborn babies at a maternity hospital in Zambia.
To celebrate their first birthday, Knit and Knatter members will hold an exhibition and sale of their work on Sunday from 10am.
Katie Douglas, who set up the group, said: “I am thrilled that it has gone so well. We have had a really good turnout throughout the year. This group is very important to people, it gets them out meeting each other and learning from each other.”
As part of the event, there will also be a selection of vintage, Fairtrade and recycled fashion and gifts on sale from Goodbye Norma Jean, the Rusty Button and Bridge End Pottery. There will also be cup cakes, mince pies and ginger wine on offer with a visit from Santa also planned for children.
For more information call the centre on 016977 45023.
