Meaty donations for supper help carers

THE Brampton branch of Cumbria Cerebral Palsy has raised £1,000 for the charity following a Cumberland supper.

The event was held at Lanercost Sports Club on Saturday, October 25.

All food was donated by Brampton butchers Colin and Rosemary Moore and local committee members took charge of cooking.

There were speakers, including cerebral palsy sufferer and cyclist and mountaineer, Doctor Howard Ashton.

Local act Wayne Armstrong and his mother Margaret, from Brampton, who are also involved with the charity, entertained the crowds by playing the accordion.

A vote of thanks was given by Gill Wykes, who is a member of the charity’s Brampton branch and also vice chairman of Cumbria Cerebral Palsy.

One of the organisers, Keith Nightingale, said: “A good time was had by all and we are very grateful to all those who attended and helped make the night such a success.”
